Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Will Drom Monster Collect Unrinsed Containers?

  • Yes, we are a DEA 24G Licenced Hazardous Waste Recoverer
  • However collection will not be free, a FEE WILL BE CHARGED if containers ARE NOT TRIPLE RINSED.
  • Prior arrangement is required for the collection of unrinsed containers

Why Triple Rinse?

  • It is your pesticide that you paid for; triple rinsing is a tool to use every last drop of it.
  • Contaminated containers pose health & environmental risks; triple rinsing cancels this risk.
  • Contaminated containers on the farm necessitates a license to store hazardous waste; triple rinsing eliminates that requirement.
  • Triple rinsed containers may be transported as normal commodities while contaminated containers require dangerous goods transportation certification.

What Is The Easiest Way To Triple Rinse?

  • Do it at the spray tank where the last bit of pesticide can be recovered and added to the spray mixture.
  • Add one quarter of the container volume fresh water, agitate for 30 seconds and decant into the spray tank – hold over the spray tank for 30 seconds.
  • Repeat this rinsing action twice; that means you rinsed the container three times.
  • Dry the container in the sun, cut into quarters or puncture to render it useless as a container.

What To Do With Triple Rinsed Empty Containers?

  • Contact one of the AVCASA approved plastic collectors/recyclers for safe disposal.
  • Do not dispose of triple rinsed empty containers by burning, burying, selling or donating it to farm workers or rural people as containers for other purposes. This may lead to a heavy penalty from the Global GAP Inspectorate.
